THE VALENTINO COLLECTION (1918 - 1922)

226 min. / B&W / Color / Tinted / Silent / sound / 1:33:1

New digital transfers of The Young Rajah, Stolen Moments, Moran of the Lady Letty, A Society Sensation, A Trip To Paramountown, Screen Snapshots, Round About Hollywood and Rudolph Valentino were made on a Spirit Datacine at Ascent Media, Burbank, CA. Telecine Colorist: David Block

The digital reconstruction of The Young Rajah was a collaboration between Turner Classic Movies and Flicker Alley from incomplete 16mm print and other materials. Image stabilization and dirt removal were performed by down-converting the transferred high-definition 1080 x 1920 image into four 540 x 960 PAL quadrants. These four separate images were then “cleaned” by a digital filtering system and “stitched” back into an HD image, which was in turn down-converted into a final uncompressed NTSC Quicktime file to run at approximately 21 frames per second.

The music scores for The Young Rajah and Stolen Moments were composed and performed by Jon C. Mirsalis; recorded at The Annex, Menlo Park, CA.

The music score for Moran of the Lady Letty was composed and arranged by Robert Israel, performed by Robert Israel – Piano, Vit Muzik – Violin, Recording Session Director: Vladislav Kvapil. The music scores for A Society Sensation, A Trip To Paramountown, and Screen Snapshots were performed by Bob Mitchell; recorded at Founder’s Church, Los Angeles: recording engineer Pat Gentry. Additional Production Design on all featured films by Brian Peterson, Roam Creative.
