This unique footage from 1924 was taken aboard the ocean liner Leviathan as Valentino was returning to New York from a European vacation. The image of a bearded Valentino was the focus of much media attention and comment. Upon his arrival, barbers in the city were reported to threaten a boycott unless Valentino shaved, fearing that his trend-setting style would cause men to give up shaving. Valentino complied.
